for hot glass bead making!
WHAT: We’ll be exploring the exciting possibilities of hot glass ‘flame-working’ or "‘torch-working’, in this short courses! Over the 3 sessions, you will produce a selection of patterned beads, using both Transparent and Opal glass, leaving with a variety of outcomes; necklace/bracelet/keyring.
Week 1
Selecting 2-4 different colour ways, pull your own stringer from rods.
Prepare a set of mandrels in a variety of thicknesses, these are the rods you will melt the glass around, and the thinner the rod- the smaller the hole is in the bead.
Practice hand-eye coordination, using both hands and both sides of your brain! You will create a couple of small beads, to learn the basic skills
Week 2
Produce 5 transparent glass beads, and 5 opal glass beads; a mixture of plain, marbled and patterned styles. These will be left to anneal, and ready to construct the following week.
Week 3
Produce 1/2 larger beads; a mixture of plain, marbled and patterned styles. These will be left to anneal, and ready to collect the following week.
Using the beads from week 2, create a bracelet/ necklace/ key chain.
Collect hardware for your larger bead/s, (which is to be constructed at home).
