Birds & Bees Jewellery workshop w. Frances Noon - 10/5/25 @G1
Make a bird or bee pendant this Spring!
WHO: Frances will be your tutor for the day, this workshop is perfect for all abilities; absolute beginners, intermediate or advanced- everyone can achieve a great result in this full day workshop.
WHAT: Birds & bees jewellery workshop, using Pebeo porcelain paint
Learn how to make a pendant or a brooch in metal and then add colour to the surface using pebeo porcelain paints.
On this one day course participants will form a pendant and/or a brooch from sheet metal. This will be hand painted using the pebeo porcelain paint. There is the possibility within the one day course to make a pendant and a brooch piece.
You will first cut out your design from brass sheet metal, using a piercing saw, snips and then filing the edges down so they are smooth. Add details such as eyes and beak definition onto the surface using hammer and punch. This would likely be kept to the minimum, but additional details such as legs can be added in wire and soldered to the piece.
Finally you will use the pebeo porcelain 150 paints to add colour to the surface of your design. As these paints need a 24 hr time period to dry before they are baked in an oven, participants will have to leave their pieces with us for firing.
For pendants you will put together a brass effect chain to the length of your choice. And a brooch back will be glued to any brooches before work is returned via post (+ £3pp) or collected from the studio the following Monday onwards.

Sketchbooking – lets grow your confidence!
Ever felt afraid of the blank page? Don’t know where to start? Lets free you up and grow your confidence!
Artists use sketchbooks as part of their ongoing practice. They use them as reference and to problem solve for larger, more refined pieces of work and to quickly record ideas in the moment. It’s likely you’ll find a sketchbook in the back pocket or bag of any decent creative!
However, don’t be thinking that a sketchbook is reserved for those making a living out of creating art! Keeping a sketchbook is something all of us can enjoy and is arguably the single most important, accessible, personal form of expression. Each blank page is an opportunity – it’s a place to record a daily experience, share an idea or reflect an emotion. Together we will conquer fears of ‘the blank page’ and ‘where do I start’.
We will
explore a range of different starting points including drawing from life, using photography and referencing the work of other artists and crafts people
discover different drawing and painting techniques, both conventional and non conventional
use a variety of wet and dry media such as charcoal, graphite, ink, acrylic paint, watercolour, gouache, soft pastel, oil pastel, and collage media
work with different tools and equipment, including making our own, to discover ways of recording in a sketchbook
help you find your voice, so that your sketchbook is unmistakably yours
This is a fast moving course designed to kickstart your creative sketchbook journey!

Ceramic Sculpture - Christmas Tree Lanterns @G2
Join Lauren over at Globe 2 for this one off workshop, using clay and slip, to make Christmas Tree shaped decorative pieces, for you home.
Following our steps, and using a variety of templates you create your very own set of 3D trees, which you can cut out as many or as few stars/ holes as you like- to adjust the amount of light which can escape.
Lauren will show you the best techniques for applying colour, and you'll pick them back up in a couple of weeks.
These look lovely once lit with a real or faux candle light in a window sill, as a centre piece on your coffee table, or on a mantle piece!
Fused Glass Pumpkins workshop - 23/10/24 @G2
Join Lauren the week before Halloween to make your own fused glass decoration.
Using clear glass and powdered glass, you will use specialist equipment to add different colours and shades onto the glass. You can make it a jack-o-lantern style, using our face cut out stencils, or keep it as a plain pumpkin, and decorate with curly green glass rods to look like the stem.
You can keep your glass flat, we can add jump rings so it can be hung in a window or placed in a perspex stand. Or we can bend your glass, into a candle arch shape, so you can place candles behind on a mantle piece or on a windowsill!
These pieces will be put in the kiln at the end of the workshop, and we will email you when they are ready to collect the following week.
This workshop is suitable for 16 years and above.
