We are delighted to be a part of Nature Season, a new grant programme supporting creative projects inspired by the natural environment, taking place across Kirklees.
The Holme Mills Sculpture trail is a series of free workshops, working with local artists, communities and partners to create an accessible sculpture trail linking Slaithwaite, Marsden and Holme Mills.
Using reclaimed materials and heritage-inspired artwork, the trail will celebrate local history, nature and the seasons while improving access, encouraging active travel, and engaging residents through creative workshops and volunteering opportunities.
Explore our rich heritage in the Colne Valley and help preserve traditional glass arts in our region!
Join our expert glass tutors to help develop beautiful fused glass designs. You will learn to cut, layer, and arrange colored art glass, which will then be kiln-fired and permanently embedded into reclaimed mill and lock timbers, forming a vibrant waymarker sculpture trail between Marsden and Slaithwaite.
We supply all glass, tools, kilns, safety equipment, and aprons for the workshop. The studio environment can vary in temperature, so comfortable layers are recommended. For safety in the glass studio, sandals or open-toed footwear are strictly not allowed.
