Join Jackie in this one-off workshop, using clay to sculpt the figure three dimensionally.
WHO: Taught by Jackie, this workshop is open to clients from Life Drawing or Ceramics background. All abilities welcome.
WHAT: You will spend 4 hours sculpting the nude figure, from a ball of clay, with Jackie’s expert guidance throughout. As you can see from the photos above, jackie has taught this workshop in the past, it’s an amazing experience bringing 2 disciplines together in one session.
Working with clay can be very therapeutic, and in studying the figure you will enhance cognitive skills like problem-solving and memory, and improves physical abilities like fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination, all while offering a creative outlet and a way to connect with the people around you.
There’ll be a few short breaks throughout, to rest you hands, have a brew and biscuit, and by the end of the session, you will have produced 2 figures. You will choose which one to keep, and which one to throw in the Bucket of Doom! (if you watch Pottery Thrown Down, you’ll know all about the BoD)
Aprons will be provided, and it won’t be too messy, but dont wear your best clothes for this one!
You’re chosen figure sculpture will then dry out for 2 weeks, go in for a bisque fire, then our ceramic technician will coat it in a clear glossy glaze, and in for its final firing. They will be ready for collection approximately 1 month after this workshop, and can be picked up from our ceramic building, Globe 2, or we can post them out for an additional £5pp. (payable on the day of the workshop)
