  • Edibles the barn, paddock farm, park gate road England, HD7 5XB United Kingdom (map)

Join us in this exciting collaboration between ourselves from Globe Arts, and North Light Pottery School, at Edibles.

With special guests Fiona Newby & Tim Copsey.

WHO: Open to all abilities, all you need is 3 pre thrown/ hand built pots (you’ll get 1kg of clay to use from us) that have been bisque fired. Your hosts for the day are Jackie & Zoe, your tutors for the day are Dave and Katherine, our venue hosts are Rosie & Steve (they run Edibles, and will be feeding us!) Plus special guests Fiona Newby & Tim Copsey.

WHAT: Playing with Earth & Fire; Barrel firing in nature, a chance to fully immerse yourself in an excitingalternative firing technique, with the expertise of Fiona Newby (see images below), and support from of our ceramics tutors Dave & Katherine.

Plus, we will be using raw clay from the fields at Edibles, sculpt and pinch it into unique pots, to be dried out and bisque fired after the workshop, as mementos from your time with us.

WHEN: SATURDAY 16th May, 11-5pm. (Tickets available until Weds 15th April 8pm)

  • 11am-12pm, complimentary drinks on arrival, networking time - a chance to chat with like minded creatives!

  • 12-12.30pm, in the Cow Shed, walk around the ‘buffet’ of firing materials, look at example pieces for ideas out outcomes, learn what different effects and reactions are caused by certain materials.

  • 12.30-1.30pm, prepare your pots for firing, wrap them up and place in the barrels, located out in the field.. then let the flames work their MAGIC!

  • 1.30-3pm, using the raw clay from site, make pinch pots (these will be later be fired in our kilns, back at GA or NLP)

  • 3-4pm, hot drinks and biscuits served whilst we listen to our key note speaker Tim Copsey (see images of Tim’s work below)

  • 4-5pm, tuck into our pizzas - fresh from on site pizza oven, plus additional buffet food brought by everyone to share.

  • 5pm, everyone off site, walk back to Globe Art’s car park (the tutors’ last job - check the barrels before we leave, let it cool down overnight)

  • 5.30pm onwards; if people want to carry on into the night, Zapatos is on Holme Mills site, where they serve hot drinks and alcoholic drinks, plus often have food vans at the weekends for an evening meal.

SUNDAY 17th May, 11-1pm

  • 11am-1pm, the big reveal! We will carefully pull everyone’s pieces from the ashes. Once cleaned, we will have a photoshoot of your pieces. Another chance to network, and we’d like to gather some general feedback :)

  • Please note, if you cannot make this day, if you live too far away/ have pre-booked plans, we can clean, photograph and post your pots out to you.

WHERE: We suggest people parking your car at Holme Mills, where Globe Arts is located with a large carpark, then walk along the canal. We will meet at Globe 1 overflow carpark at 10.30am, Jackie & Zoe will lead the way along to Edibles. It’s roughly 15 minutes/ 0.8 mile and mostly flat. (If you can catch a lift with others to GA carpark, that would be even better!)

If you have access needs/ cant walk far, there are limited parking spaces available at Edibles, please email us if you need this option so we can accommodate you on the day.
