This one off workshop is perfect for those who have previously thrown, and wish to focus on the decorative technique.

The first part of the workshop explores the importance of a sketchbook for recording ideas for ceramic decoration. Students will learn what slip is and how it can be used on clay for decorative effects.

Artist and potter Geoff Chilton demonstrates tools and application of slip before showing various graffito techniques, first on a single slip layer, then on a two-colour layer, and then on multiple layers. Students will have the opportunity to use and apply their own designs to leather-hard clay.
