Meet Annie Roche

Annie Roche is one of our fantastic freelance tutors at Globe Arts. Annie joins us at the studio for her fantastic Mixed Media courses & workshops, focussing on still life and getting inspired by our surroundings.

ABOUT ANNIE

Between 1978-1981, Annie studied and graduated in a Fine Art degree at Northumbria University - whilst at university, Annie explored various materials and styles.

Annie then went on to receive a teaching qualification at Brighton Polytechnic from 1981-1982, leading her to teach at Fine Art at Honley High School from 1982 to 1989, and then at Greenhead College in Huddersfield 1989-2000.

Annie decided to study for a MA in Fine Art at Leeds Metropolitan University in 1990.

Over the years, Annie has exhibited her gorgeous still life work an numerous local galleries, including our Globe Gallery in September 2023 when we were lucky to have ‘Here, There, Nowhere’ decorating our walls! Annie currently has her work over at Temple Newsam, and Cooper Gallery in Barnsley. “I would describe myself primarily as a Colourist. I work in still life, landscape and abstraction - I enjoy mixing it all up! I am interested in layers, pattern and surfaces, I want my paintings to bring a little bit of joy.”

Annie now has her own studio built, where she creates her beautiful work.

WHERE TO FIND ANNIE AT GLOBE ARTS

Annie has an exciting workshop coming up on Tuesday 3rd June… ‘Painting Impressionistic Flowers’. From 11am-3pm, work with Annie as you explore multi media and observational studies. “I will demonstrate and share ways to capture the essence of flowers rather than a botanical study, using paint, mixed media and print, experimenting with layers and mark making.”
