Our Forever Home

Wow… we’ve had our first official term at our new Globe 1 at Holme Mills in Marsden, and what an amazing term it has been! And it’s already time for our June & July term…

Our move over to Holme Mills has been quite the journey! At the end of 2023, Jackie and Zoe started looking for a home for our glass and ceramics courses - expanding our courses at Globe Arts has always been so important to us, so we started viewing units to create our brand new ‘Globe 2’ space, and found Holme Mills at Marsden. Despite it being a blank canvas, we knew straight away that this space at Holme Mills for our ceramics and glass classes was perfect, and decided that the time to expand Globe Arts was right!

Our building in Slaithwaite centre continued to be the home of our Fine Art, Kids & Craft classes and our gallery and shop. We absolutely loved our gorgeous building on Carr Lane, but sadly with heritage buildings comes heritage problems, leading us to finally make the decision to reunite our Globe 1 and Globe 2 classes by officially moving over to Holme Mills.

We can’t stress enough how amazing it was to have the support of our fantastic friends, clients, staff and local community to help us with our move. Whether you volunteered 1 hour or 100 hours of your time, we are so unbelievably grateful for your support! With everyone’s help, we were able to box up all of our belongings (believe us, it was a LOT), get them moved over to the new site, get new shelving up and walls painted! If you were one of the many amazing people to volunteer your time to help us, we’d love to invite you to our ‘Thank You’ Party on Friday 6th June from 7pm in our garden at Globe 1!

It was a busy few weeks! There were lots of car trips, lots of boxes, lots of dismantling and reassembling. Everybody’s help made such a huge difference - our fantastic tutor Lauren was amazing at driving the HUGE van that we hired, and we had a fantastic team of people helping us load and unload the van.

Our studio holders had a busy couple of days moving their own materials, equipment and furniture over to the new site - it’s amazing to see these fabulous artists and micro-businesses settle into their new space!

We opened the doors of our new Globe 1 officially on Saturday 3rd May, where we celebrated Print Day in May 2025 with a variety of workshops, demos and open studios! It was such a surreal moment to welcome everyone to our forever home, with both of our units all on one site. Some bits and bobs are still a work in progress (and we have some very exciting things planned for Globe 1), but we are so in love with the new space and we hope that you are too.
