Join Zoe S on Friday afternoons, throwing on the wheel!
WHO: Zoe Stainton will be your tutor for this course. Zoe is best known for her mixed media animal sculptures, but is also a fantastic trained ceramicist.
WHAT: Learn the exciting art of throwing on the potter's wheel. This course is perfect for beginners and intermediates, where you will learn in a small intimate group to ensure you get the proper guidance and tuition needed.
You will develop the skills to throw your own pots in just a few weeks; learning how to centre the clay, open out the shape, pull up the walls and control the form. Zoe will show you how to shape your piece, trim and neaten, then decorate with glazes before your creations are fired in the kiln.
You should come away with 3 masterpieces to take home, but please be aware that absolute beginners’ pieces are more likely to break during the bisque fire, so there is a chance that they might not survive!
WHEN: Fridays, 1 - 3 pm Friday 19th September until 24th October
INVESTMENT: £160 for 6 weeks (6 x 2 hour sessions) - includes tuition, materials and refreshments
WHERE: Globe 2 , Holme Mills, West Slaithwaite, HD7 6LS
WHY: The movement of making pottery is gentle yet strengthening to the hands, wrists, and arms. This can be beneficial to those prone to arthritis in the hands, as it promotes joint movement and dexterity.
Looking for a different day? You can also join us on Monday evenings, Tuesday evenings, and Friday evenings are available.
